Playstation 5, Xbox Series X or Nintendo Switch – the selection of game consoles is huge. The decision for one of the devices is not always easy, as everyone attracts with their own advantages. Not to simply compare lists of facts and figures, this article takes a closer look at some selected unique strengths of the aforementioned consoles.

Playstation 5: the console for fans and lovers of exclusive titles

Like its predecessor, the Playstation 5 (PS5) stands out from the competition, especially with exclusive titles, according to “Watson”. For example, fans of the Final Fantasy, God of War and Uncharted game series will find what they are looking for in the current generation of Sony consoles as well. Sony has already announced “Final Fantasy 16” and “God of War 2: Ragnarok”. Fans can also expect “Horizon 2: Forbidden West” and “Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales”. Both titles are successors of games that have been positively perceived by critics and fans.

Xbox Series X: For old school gamers and hardware enthusiasts

The Xbox Series X impresses, at least on paper, with exceptional hardware. It’s a nose length ahead of the PS5. This does not mean that Microsoft’s console is only suitable for so-called triple A games. On the contrary: games from a series can be played up to the first generation.

Another noteworthy feature is the so-called Game Pass Ultimate: In this Netflix-like subscription model, players get access to over 100 games, including the latest titles, for a monthly price of CHF 15. These are either free or greatly reduced and the range of free games grows every month. Various EA games are also available in the game library. The subscription is valid except for Xbox Series X for the previous Xbox One console and PC. Selected games can also be streamed via game streaming on Android mobile devices, as Microsoft calls them.

Nintendo Switch: mobile or stationary games, even with family and friends

One of the things that stands out about the Nintendo Switch is that it is a hybrid console. Gamers can use it on the go or at home on television. This is made possible by a sort of docking station for the console connected to the TV. The mobile console can be plugged in there to bring the now high resolution image to the TV. Controllers that were previously connected to the mobile version of the device can simply be removed from it and now act as a wireless controller. These are also suitable for games that require movement.

Like the PS5, the Switch has some exclusive gaming classics only available on this console. These include games from the Zelda series or the Mario series. Popular multiplayer titles like “Mario Kart”, “Mario Party” or “Super Smash Bros” are suitable for family and friends, even on the spot. The current title of the Super Smash Bros. series can be played by up to eight players on one console.
