Microsoft and Sony can be considered direct rivals in the video game industry, constantly competing to acquire new customers through consoles and exclusives, but the truth is far away, says Phil Spencer.
According to The Verge, Microsoft’s gaming industry chief said Sony or Nintendo aren’t the real opponents. “We are in the entertainment industry. The main competitor is the indifference to the products, services and games we build,” Spencer said.
Additionally, Microsoft’s director of gaming finds over-the-top brand loyalty in bad taste and hates the idea that Xbox has to “see others fail” to achieve its goals. “I will never be against a creative team or a product just because I have a competitive service. I’m not like that. I don’t think it helps the industry in the long run,” Spencer added.
