A 1965 law concerning some 5 cents coins, was invoked by a service station and caused a woman a little angry at the question.
Amy Dee, a customer at the Adelaide petrol station, wrote on the store's Facebook page after the cashier refused to accept her payment in return for silver.
Ms. Dee wrote that she tried to buy some items from the store with a value of $ 10 of 50 cents, but her payment was not accepted.
The service station responded to Ms. Dee's message, citing the Australian Government Currency Act of 1965, which states that there are restrictions on the maximum amounts of payment made with coins.
"If you use 5c, 10c, 20c or 50c coins, payment with money can not exceed $ 5. If you use $ 1 coins, payment with a coin can not exceed $ 10. If you use $ 2 coins , payment with coins can not exceed $ 20 ", wrote the shop.
Anything outside these parameters is not considered legal.
