Eighteen of the new cases are in Arviat, bringing the number of positive cases to 98. A new case was found in Whale Cove and two more in Rankin Inlet.
All the people are isolated and doing well, the government says, and no evidence of community transmission has been seen in Rankin Inlet or Whale Cove.
Health teams are working day and night in Arviat, Whale Cove and Rankin Inlet to find, isolate and contain the spread of the virus
said Michael Patterson, Nunavut’s chief health officer.
Much remains to be done and it will still take time to see if our health measures work.
3 cases in the Yukon
Meanwhile, Yukon Chief Medical Officer Brendan Hanley confirmed Saturday that three new cases have been detected in the territory. There are now 32 in all.
Two of the new cases are related to known cases and the third comes from a trip outside the Yukon, Dr. Hanley confirms in a press release.
Health authorities are looking for contacts.
A notice was also issued about the Better Bodies gym in Whitehorse due to a public display of a case on Monday, November 16 between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m.
