On Wednesday, Houston Rockets fans were shocked. Athletic reported that many players were upset and the biggest news was that Russell Westbrook requested a swap. A few days earlier, there were reports that both James Harden and Westbrook felt uncertain about the future of their rockets due to the multiple changes in the organization.
Teammate Robert Covington recently addressed these reports. The striker who arrived from the Timberwolves in February took office quickly and was brilliant on the bubble. In such a short time, he has already developed a strong chemistry with his teammates. During his conversation with ESPN, Covington said he understands what both Harden and Westbrook are thinking.
“It’s new, it’s a whirlwind right now “ He said. “So it won’t make sense because so many things are happening all at once. There are so many decisions that need to be made in such a short time. I can understand where the uncertainties come from because no one really knows right now. “
The Rockets recently replaced longtime GM Daryl Morey, who had been with them since 2006. They also split from former manager Mike D’Antoni after seven years of association.

Covington then revealed details of his conversation with new manager Stephen Silas. He said Silas wants them to “Put ourselves in a position where we can bring out the best in both (Harden and Westbrook).”
He also said that Silas believes both Harden and Westbrook can return to their MVP form.
Covington said, “(Coach) wants them to get back to their MVP status because they can both do it. James has been doing it for significant years and Russ has been doing amazing for the past three to four years. He wants those guys to get back to the same level because that will get us back on track. They are our leaders and those who lead by example. “
Although Westbrook has asked to leave, the Rockets will try to convince him to stay. They won’t be able to get the same value out of any trade for him, and that will hurt their chances of contending. If he is determined to leave, the Rockets will be forced to settle for future resources from a team like the Hornets or the Knicks.
This is a difficult situation for the Rockets and the new management will be eager to resolve it quickly.
