The Swiss Alpine Ski Team faces 3 positive coronavirus tests in men. Impressed are Loïc Meillard and Justin Murisier from western Switzerland and Marco Odermatt from central Switzerland. The 3 athletes are in solitary confinement. They show only mild to no cold symptoms.

Perhaps no expulsion of the team

The damage to the Swiss team could be limited, because the giant slalom specialists were not in retreat, but they were alone. “They have had no contact with each other or with officials,” a Swiss Ski spokesperson pointed out when asked. There is hardly any risk that the entire team will be completely excluded. This weekend, for example, the women’s slalom in Finland will take place without the Swedes. After a crown case in the coaching team, the entire team was quarantined by the Finnish authorities.

What is certain is that Meillard, Murisier and Odermatt will be canceled for the World Cup in Lech / Zürs. In Vorarlberg, the men and women will hold a parallel race every Thursday and Friday.

The trio should be able to leave again for the two giant slaloms in Val-d’Isère on December 5th and 6th. At the opening of the season in Sölden, both Odermatt (2nd place), Meillard (5th) and Murisier (11th) were convincing.
