HBO brought the documentary to Brazil Console Wars, production inspired by the book The war of the islands by Blake Harris. The film is directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and tells the story of the battle for the gaming market between Nintendo and SEGA in the 1990s.

OR Canaltech already has the production analysis, initially launched by CBS in September. Now, HBO has added the film to its catalog on HBO GO, with subtitles and dubbing in Brazilian Portuguese.

Console Wars brings interviews and documents raised by Harris in his book published in 2014. The focus is Tom Kalinske, who was the director of Sega of America in the 1990s. At the time, the North American market was dominated by Nintendo. It was with Kalisnke’s blueprints that Sega was able to elevate Sonic and take on Mario.

The production was nominated for an Emmy for Best Screenplay in a Variety Series and initially premiered at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival.
