EVERYTHING you need to know about the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor that will bring the 2020 high end to life.
In its particular summit which is held every year in early December, Qualcomm presented the new generation of its flagship processor Snapdragon 800 series. This year it was the turn of Qualcomm Snapdragon 888, although many expected it Snapdragon 875 was the name of the new reference processor of the Californian company.

As expected for some time, the new Snapdragon 888 is produced in a 5 nanometer process, an advance that leaves behind the 7 nanometers of the previous Snapdragon 855 and 865, and which is on par with Apple’s A14 and Huawei Kirin 9000.
The flagship of this SoC is found in the inclusion of powerful new Cortex-X1 core, which runs at a maximum frequency of 2.84 GHz. For comparison, the core with the maximum performance of the Snapdragon 865 offered the same maximum frequency and the Snapdragon 865+ increased that figure to 3.1 GHz.
This core is complemented by others tres Cortex-A78 at a frequency of 2.45 GHz and a fourth core for the energy saving: a 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55. This data is based on information collected in recent weeksAlthough Qualcomm will not reveal the more technical details of its processor until December 2.
Another novelty is the inclusion of X60 modem, which supports faster upload and download speeds via support for 5G NSA and SA. Furthermore, Qualcomm confirmed this the modem is integrated as in the Snapdragon 765, and therefore will not be included separately as in the Snapdragon 865. The 888 thus becomes the primer SoC High-end Qualcomm with integrated 5G modem.

The Qualcomm Quick Charge 5 fast charging technology, which offers manufacturers the ability to enable charging powers up to 100W.
In terms of photography, Qualcomm has shown features such as the ability to take up to 120 photos per second at 12 megapixel resolution through an improved ISP.
The first phones with Snapdragon 888 will arrive during the first months of 2021, with exclusive models such as realme, Xiaomi or Samsung among the first to adopt Qualcomm’s new system. It is to be hoped that, among them, there are the expected ones Xiaomi Mi 11 Y Samsung Galaxy S21.
