Netflix has hired NBC script programming co-chair Tracey Pakosta as the new head of comedy.
Reporting to global TV chief Bela Bajaria, Pakosta will oversee both current programming and shows in development for Netflix’s scripted comedy, including live action and adult animation, as well as the comedy and booth formats team. -up.
Pakosta was considered the front-runner for the position, following Jane Wiseman’s departure last month, having previously worked with Bajaria and coming in with strong comic credentials, helping to develop and launch hits including The good place is Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
He leaves his current role after nearly a decade with NBCUniversal, joining in 2011 as the EVP of comedy development for Universal Television, which was previously directed by Bajaria.
