The ZSC Lions returned from quarantine with a narrow victory. The Zurich team won the best match of the round at Servette 4: 3 after penalties.

However, in the second clash of the strongest teams in the National League this season, the winner was still not certain after 65 minutes. Like on 9 October, when ZSC at the Hallenstadion had to admit defeat at Geneva 4: 5 after penalties after a 3-0 and 4-1 advantage, the team of manager Rikard Grönborg also entered the Hall empty net out of step in the last third. In penalties, Flüeler made four out of six attempts. Fredrik Pettersson led ZSC to victory in their first serious match in 13 days with two converted penalties. After the third defeat in the ninth game of the season, Servette is no longer the leader even after losing points.

Freiburg – Biel 4: 1

Friborg-Gottéron are leading the National League. Freiburg also prevailed in the third duel of the season with Bienne and won 4-1 at home. Canadian David Desharnais scored the winning goal after just 13 minutes. Beat Forster had already made up for an initial deficit in Biel within 38 seconds. Julien Sprunger had opened the scoring after just under two minutes. It was the first goal for the Freiburg captain in the twelfth game of the season. Shortly before the end, Sprunger hit the empty goal a second time.

While Gottéron is still undefeated after five games in the recently revamped arena and hails from the top of the standings, the downward spiral continues in Biel. Coach Lars Leuenberger’s side have been just one of the winners of their last seven league games. Toni Rajala could have steered the game in a different direction in the 47th minute in Freiburg. The Finn pulled out alone on Reto Berra with a score of 1: 2, but failed at the Freiburg goalkeeper. Berra showed another strong game with 34 saves.

The match between Rapperswil-Jona and Ambri-Piotta turned out to be a one-way affair. Top scorer Roman Cervenka laid the foundation for St. Gallen’s 4-1 home win after two defeats. The Czech scored the 1-0 and 3-0 himself, while Dominik Egli’s 2-0 gave him the decisive pass. With 14 points from twelve games, Cervenka is something like the Lakers’ life insurance in seventh place.

With the home team, regular goalkeeper Melvin Nyffeler celebrated a comeback success following his crown illness. In his first serious fight in four weeks, he saved 28 hits. Only the Finn Julius Nättinen (33.) managed to defeat Nyffeler. The 1: 3 in power play was already the twelfth goal of the season for the championship top scorer. Ambri has slipped to the bottom of the standings after losing points and has been waiting for a win on foreign ice in five games.
