ZSC Lions – SCL Tigers 2: 1
The game: The task turns out to be more difficult than the people of Zurich could have imagined. In the third holder they benefit from three Langnauer penalties, so they use the second for an early advantage from sniper Fredrik Pettersson. But it remains tough. Goalkeeper Lukas Flüeler had to save twice when an SCL player appeared alone in front of him. First he stops Benjamin Neukom, then he can’t be beaten by top scorer Ben Maxwell.
The penalties and missed opportunities seem to get on the nerves of the guests. And you can feel it in ghost games too. “Wake the fuck up!” Tiger Defender Yanick Blaser yells. The wake-up call was probably not for Maxwell, but for a referee.
It takes until just before the second break before the Zurich side can pull off two lengths after three metal hits – Roman Wick is left without a scorer point. Justin Sigrist shows agile hands and technical skills. Nice as Ivars Punnenovs plays. Its gate is somewhat reminiscent of the exploits of its Pawel Dazjuk model. In the final third, the Langnauers, where Nolan Diem fails after a hard check from Maxim Noreau, put pressure on. But Flüeler keeps calm and an overview.
The Zurich side have yet to tremble after Jules Sturny’s goal. But they make it to mandatory victory, climb to the top of the leaderboard and pay tribute to Lions master builder Simon Schenk. A minute of silence will be dedicated to the Emmentaler, who passed away on 1 May at the age of 73, before the match. (sr)
The best: Lukas Flüeler (ZSC Lions). His saves in the first and last third save the victory of the Lions and bring them to the table.
The plum: Ben Maxwell (SCL Tigers). The Canadian is too little determined in the end when he is alone in front of Flüeler.
The objectives: 7. Pettersson (Noreau, Andrighetto / PP) 1: 0. 39. Sigrist (Krüger) 2: 0. 57. Sturny (Grossniklaus) 2: 1.
Lausanne – Freiburg 6: 1
The game: A great French battle. Unusual, but that’s what the ranking promises. The pace and efficiency of Lausanne are excellent. The defensive behavior of Freiburg, the leader before this round, however, makes his hair stand on end.
Gottéron Berra goalkeeper, who was not keeping up with the 1: 6 failure three weeks ago in the same place, can only shake his head after yesterday’s 0: 5 at the latest. Probably because he can’t believe what he sees in front of him: the Freiburg defensive is being dismantled. You’re just going too fast. Reverse is blocked.
Before Bozon’s 1-0 (his first goal of the season) defender Abplanalp was overtaken. Before the next goal, colleague Sutter is late and theatrically throws his hands away. At Conacher’s 3-0, Jecker is not on the post. And so it goes on and on. The pace of Lausanne’s transition to the offensive and attacking races remains too high for Gottéron. The question of whether the LHC lost the pace of the match after the forced three-week break including quarantine is convincingly answered after just 20 minutes. This is the sixth consecutive victory.
And Gottéron? The Friborg remain rebels only after the 0: 1 and are even closer to a draw than Lausanne in the next goal. The fact that they fail at this stage seems to break their will. (NV)
The best: Barberio (LHC). The defender shines with an overview of the game.
The plum: Sutter (Freiburg). One of those slow on defense, but with superfluous body language.
Tore: 7. Bozon 1: 0. 19. Bertschy (Frick) 2: 0. 20. Conacher (Gibbons, Malgin) 3: 0. 24. Gibbons (Barberio, Conacher) 4: 0. 26. Bertschy (Emmerton) 5 : 0. 28. Emmerton (Barberio, Bertschy) 6: 0. 52. Walser (Jecker) 6: 1.
Lugano – Geneva 2-0
The game: HC Lugano remains unbeaten in November. It was only four games, but still. The hero of the evening is goalkeeper Niklas Schlegel, who has not conceded a goal for the third time this season. The second hero of the evening is sniper Luca Fazzini, who completes a splendid combination in the power play. A stroke of luck, but it doesn’t need luck. The conclusion from the wrist sits, parade excluded.
Before (and after) the French-speaking Swiss usually determine the game. They regularly put Ticino in a head start, but they defend their box like a castle of chariots. If the Genevans still find a void, they continue to get stuck with Schlegel. Try alternately with solo advances, then with nimble combinations and finally with the crowbar. Hold on. As bewitched. Nothing is right.
Servette remains only the beauty prize. Well played, well combined, not very burned. With the last zeal and a sixth player on the pitch nothing works, when Lugano’s Bürgler finally conquers the puck, he can practically bring it to an empty net.
Only the man for Lugano’s rough, Swiss-Canadian Tim Traber, provoked some disappointment, while at 36 ‘he pushed Genevan playmaker Henrik Tömmernes out of thin air onto the ice. Since Tömmernes is already busy with two other Lugano players, the referees put the rough trotter in the fridge for 2 plus 10 minutes. Maybe he just broke his collar because no one wanted to make fun of him. After that you don’t see trotters anymore.
Tore: 33. Fazzini (Kuraschew, Herburger / PP) 1-0. 60. Bürgler 2: 0 (empty net).
The best: Schlegel (Lugano). Unleash a private feud with the attacker of the Parasite Servette He clearly wins Lo. You thwarted at least three high profile opportunities for the striker.
The plum: Parasites (Servette). There is a private feud with the Lugano goalkeeper Schlegel. He loses them enormously.
