Xiaomi presented the Mi Paipai, an alternative to Google’s Chromecast which, unlike this one, doesn’t need to connect to WiFi to work. Now you can buy it from Spain on AliExpress for 46 euros.
Youpin, Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform, recently received a new device. Is called Xiaomi Mi Paipai and it is a very similar device to Google’s Chromecast, but with the difference that it does not need to connect to the WiFi network to project the screen of the devices.
So how does it work? The alternative to Xiaomi’s Chromecast consists of two small devices, which as you can see in the header image looks quite reminiscent of the Google model. One of them is a broadcaster, It is connected to the device whose screen you want to project via a USB Type-C port. All you have to do is be connected to the device that will stream the content.
The other element is the receiver, the component must be connected to the TV or other display device via the HDMI port. It is compatible with televisions, computer monitors and projectors. Unlike the transmitter, in this case you need to connect a power cable for this to work.
Once the two components are connected, to start the projection of the computer screen it is necessary to run the Mi Paipai application, where the configuration is carried out and the projection starts. It is compatible with Windows computers with Windows 7 or later and Mac computers with macOS 10.10 or later. It can be connected to multiple computers at the same time.
The Xiaomi Mi Paipai has built-in support for 2.4 and 5 GHz dual band WiFi. He admits Full HD resolution and 60Hz image transmission. It is important to note that the operating distance is 10 meters, so the transmitter and receiver should not be positioned far from each other.
Xiaomi’s alternative to the Chromecast is now available in Spain via AliExpress. It is priced at € 46.93 in Chinese eCommerce with free shipping.
