The Secretary of State for Health of Mato Grosso do Sul is promoting “D-Day” this Saturday (7) to mobilize the national multivaccination and polio campaign. Several health units will be open to assist children and adolescents in the state.

The national multivaccination and polio campaign ended on October 30th. However, as few municipalities have met their 95% vaccination coverage target, vaccination continues.

In Mato Grosso do Sul, the goal was to vaccinate 95% of 160,000 children. To date, 85.9 thousand doses have been applied, equal to 53.32% of vaccination coverage. 17 out of 79 municipalities achieved the 95% vaccination coverage goal.

The State Department of Health organized “D-Day” with municipalities this Saturday as the most strategy to expand vaccination in Mato Grosso do Sul. Adolescents under 15 years of age should be vaccinated in the multivaccination campaign and, against Poliomyelitis, children from 12 months to less than 5 years of age.

SES warns of the importance of immunization as a means of ensuring the control and elimination of preventable diseases, such as polio, rubella and congenital rubella.
