As US retailer Walmart has confirmed, customers will be offered another opportunity to secure a PS5 console in the coming week. It is assumed that everything could point to new contingents with which more dealers will be considered in the coming days.
As Sony Interactive Entertainment admitted during the day, customers in most countries will not be able to buy the PS5 in stores at launch.
Due to the COVID-19 crisis and related hygiene measures, Sony Interactive Entertainment and the company’s business partners have decided to sell all PS5 consoles at launch via their respective online stores. “In order for all players, dealers and employees to be safe from COVID-19, we confirm today that on the day of publication (November 19) all sales will be made through our trading partners’ online stores,” he said in a nutshell.
New contingents for PS5 on the way?
It is currently speculated that Sony Interactive Entertainment is currently shipping additional PS5 consoles to select retailers. The seemingly decisive clue was provided by US retail chain Walmart, which indicated in a message that interested gamers would have another opportunity to secure their PlayStation 5 console in the coming week.
Now, of course, the question arises whether Walmart just had a wave of consoles up its sleeve or whether Sony Interactive Entertainment’s retail chain could have received an additional quota. In the latter case, we can probably assume that other large retailers have been supplied with additional PS5 consoles, which will soon be offered through their respective online stores.
