The frightening discovery of a woman in her backyard has left numerous social media users speechless.
The woman, believed to be from Australia, last week posted a video of a small black mound sitting on the ground in a Facebook group, asking members to help her understand what it is.
“Has anyone seen them before? It just appeared today in some parts of the courtyard. It rained here overnight, ”he said.
In the footage, the woman touches the mound, causing what appear to be thousands of tiny live insects to move.

They seem to come back after the woman pulls her finger back.
Horrified Facebook users jokingly told Mom to burn down her house or get away from the “alien eggs”.
“I’ve never seen anything like it before!” one woman said.
“It looks like kinetic sand,” wrote another.
“Something has hatched!” a third intervened.
One of the hundreds of people who commented said the insects appear to be spring, otherwise known as Anurida Maritima.
“Springtails for sure! The same thing happens to us and we know they come every year. I hate lol, “someone answered her.
Springtails are quite common in gardens, but many people are unaware of them because they are so secretive and small, according to the Texas A&M University School of Agriculture.
“Springtails are common insects that live in leaf litter, compost heaps and lawn soils, recycling dead plant material into nutrients to fertilize your lawn,” according to the school.
“Only about a millimeter long, springs are rarely seen, but given the right environmental conditions, they can multiply into a nuisance.”
They are not harmful and do not bite people, pets, spread disease or damage homes.
