Mohamed Salah responds to who should leave for Liverpool between Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah says that whatever Roberto Firmino or Diogo Jota Jurgen Klopp chooses to play alongside him and Sadio Mane, the Reds will have a leading player in attack.

Klopp could opt for a 4-2-3-1 with both players forming up front, but it seems more likely against Man City that the German will choose between them and have the confidence of his 4-3-3 with an additional midfielder .

This has led to much discussion about who should get the nod after Jota scored a brilliant hat-trick against Atalanta midweek.

Ahead of Liverpool’s trip to the Etihad Stadium, Salah told beIN Sports, via the subway, what it’s like to play with any of the players who might line up alongside him in Manchester.

Salah explained: “Since him [Jota] he was here, he scored a lot and that helped us a lot because now we have more options.

“I can not say it [whether Jota will begin to play more than Firmino] because I’m not the coach, I can’t decide such a thing.

“I can’t look at what Firmino has done for the club and what he gives the team and say he should sit on the bench because his recent goal production is not great, this is a player who has given everything to the team for five years and creates many possibilities.

“The way our system works slightly sacrifices his scoring exit as he goes deeper and gives us the ball on the flanks, so I can’t say he should sit on the bench or that he’s not working his skill at its best.

“Of course, there may be more goals, but he creates many chances regardless. We have been together for four years, sometimes we don’t score all the matches, but we play well and the team wins and that’s what matters.

“You won’t find a striker who scores every single match, so I think we contribute a lot to other aspects of the game in terms of creating and assists for other players, and that helps the team as a whole.”
