SBI Crypto Investment, a subsidiary of the Japanese financial giant SBI Holdings, has invested in the cryptic Breadwinner AG, Cointelegraph Japan reports on January 15th.
The SBI encrypted investment fund did not disclose the amount contributed to Breadwinner, based in Switzerland, the developer of the BRD mobile cryptographic portfolio.
According to the announcement, BRD operates in 170 countries and has been downloaded by 1.8 million Android and iOS users. The announcement of the interim results of SBI reveals that in the six months that ended on September 30, 2018, SBI Holdings posted revenues of over 176 million yen (about $ 1.6 million).
BRD did not respond to Cointelegraph's comment request for press time.
The SBI group as a whole has also invested in cryptographic space previously. The company announced in August that it had invested in LastRoot for the exchange of cryptocurrencies for the second time.
As Cointelegraph reported in December last year, Vctrade implemented the Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH) and Ripple (XRP) deposits.
In September, it became known that another branch of SBI Holdings, the Korean bank SBI Savings, had signed a memorandum of understanding with Dayli Intelligence, a company specializing in artificial intelligence and blockchain technologies.
