Mimimi Games: Codename: Sweet Potato promises real-time tactics with federal funding

Desperados III developer Mimimi Games has obtained funding from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure. A new game titled Codename: Sweet Potato is also in preparation.

In a blog post, Mimimi Games unveils the future of the company and has already announced the code name for the next big project. Behind Code name sweet potato hides the third real-time tactics game from the creators of Desperados III and Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun.

Mimimi also announces that from now on they will take over publishing themselves. Recently, they worked with THQ Nordic on Desperados III (for the test: Desperados III: Wilder Westen is the best). The decision to lend a hand to the editorial process, above all, brings the possibility of being able to make one’s own decisions in a flexible way. Having complete control over the creative direction and commercial side of the upcoming project was a clear decision by the team.

The new real-time tactics game will initially be funded with funding from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI). Mimimi is one of the first firms to obtain funding from the official federal fund. This amounts to a total of € 250 million and aims to significantly advance the computer games industry in Germany. The second and much larger investor will be appointed at a later date.

Anyone wondering about the fun code name of the new project will find an explanation in the blog post. The name of the project derives from the internal communication with THQ Nordic. At that time Desperados III was internally called “Potato” and the publisher was called “Farmer”. As Mimimi includes the new game in the history of the old titles, it eventually became the sweet potato.
