In June, he proudly announced that he hadn’t touched alcohol in six months. Shortly thereafter, he reported a relapse into crown blockade, but also announced his new album “Plastic Hearts”, which has now been released just days after his 28th birthday.
For her comeback, Cyrus introduces herself as a pop pro eager to survive, adapting to the current hit parade trend with a mullet hairstyle and shameless 80s quotes. The production, by Mark Ronson and Louis Bell among others, is on the one hand aseptic, on the other hand so competently programmed at full volume that Cyrus should have a whole series of new radio hits. His lyrics fluctuate between the self-pity of a hangover (“WTF Do I Know”, “High”) and the provocative heroization of their own fucking self (“Hate Me”, “Bad Karma”). You can do it, Cyrus is not the first.
Inedible, however, is the last flirtatious song titled “Golden G-String”, in which Miley describes herself as a victim of patriarchy (“Old men have all their cards in hand and don’t play gin”), which she calls crazy- frivolous scandalous spaghetti maligned, but she did everything to make herself loved: “I did everything to make you love me and to feel alive”. This is accompanied by a sugary waltz, as befits a tipsy hymn from his own drama at the end of an epic party. It’s all as fascinating as whiskey-cola. But somehow also nice. (6.5)
