Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira (KTM) was the fastest this morning in the first of two free practice sessions of the Portuguese MotoGP Grand Prix, scheduled until Sunday, at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, in Portimão.
The KTM rider recorded his best lap already in the last moments of the session of the last World Motorcycle Speed race, running in 1.40.122 minutes, the best time ever achieved by a premier class bike on the Algarve circuit.
Oliveira left Spaniard Maverick Viñales (Yamaha) in second place, just 40 thousandths away, and Spaniard Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) in third, 114 thousandths.
The second free practice session is scheduled for this afternoon, starting at 2 pm.
The MotoGP Portuguese Grand Prix is the fourteenth and final race of the 2020 World Championship season, which has been heavily affected by the covid-19 pandemic.
Miguel Oliveira reaches this final journey in 10th place in the drivers’ standings, with 100 points.
