Michael Owen’s Premier League predictions including Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal

Michael Owen supported Tottenham to get the job done in Sunday’s North London derby as they continue their initial title charge.

Jose Mourinho’s team occupies the first position in the Premier League after an impressive start.

Tottenham have already underlined their credentials with victories against both Manchester clubs.

And with Arsenal struggling with league form in recent weeks, the former Liverpool player sees nothing but a win for the hosts, predicting a 2-1 win.

“Arsenal’s performance has declined in recent weeks,” Owen told Bet Victor.

“It was particularly evident that they haven’t had the same swagger at home as they have in recent seasons.

Jose Mourinho punched Tottenham well

“The Spurs played well. They adapted to Jose Mourinho’s style of play and could have an outside chance of winning the championship.

“Jose has been preparing to play a lot on the break this season, and I think they could benefit even more if he opened up and went into the team a little more.

“Based on form I can’t see anything but a Spurs victory. They have talent across their team, and if they keep up at this pace, they could have a surprisingly great season.”

Liverpool are level on points with Tottenham and face a difficult clash against Wolves.

Diogo Jota traded Molineux for Anfield in the summer and proved a revelation, scoring again at the weekend.

And Owen believes it is inevitable that the striker will take off against his former club as he backs the Reds to win 3-1 over Merseyside.

Diogo Jota scored again last weekend in Brighton

“The wolves scored an impressive win at Emirates last week. Until then, they hadn’t reached the highest levels of last season,” added Owen.

“They have had one or two injuries and will now be without Raul Jimenez after suffering a terrible head injury.

“I covered the Brighton game and without some controversial decisions, Liverpool would have come out with all 3 points.

“Probably, Diogo Jota has been the signer of the season, so far. He comes in this red-hot form and I think it could be written in the stars he scores against his former club.”

Manchester United failed to sustain Sunday’s dramatic win in Southampton with the win against PSG on Wednesday, falling to the French.

This sums up their season, marred by inconsistencies.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw his Man Utd side lose midweek

They go to a West Ham team that is growing in confidence and won this game last season.

Owen backed them to get the job done against the Red Devils, predicting a 2-1 win.

“Just like in the previous weeks, it is very difficult to predict how Manchester United will perform,” said Owen.

“It’s blowing so hot and cold. Their opponents West Ham look like a decent team and are growing right now. They have some quality players and their recent home form has been very good.

“I think this will be difficult again for the visitors and I can see West Ham at a minimum.”

Across London and the old rivalry will resume as Leeds take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have great attacking talent

The Yorkshire team has proven they can mix it with the elite, as is their style of play.

A win at Everton will boost confidence and Owen again expects them to be a full hand, but reckons Chelsea will have enough.

“This could be a cracker,” Owen said, predicting a 3-2 win with high scores.

“Leeds are much better off when they play against the teams that come up to them. You can see that the teams are starting to realize that and give them some respect. Everton has been trying for periods last week, although the Leeds caught them eventually.

“The fact is that they can only play one way with Chelsea. They will attack Leeds, who should play in the hands of the visitors.

“However, even though I think Bielsa’s men will have some joy on the break, I believe Chelsea will have enough quality to see them take points.”

The former red also backed Man City, Southampton, Leicester and Crystal Palace to record wins.
