The Mexican soccer team Santos Laguna has joined the Ethereum collectibles network through the Sorare platform. This was recently announced by the team itself via its Twitter account.

With the inclusion of the Mexican soccer team, Sorare users will be able to access collectible cards from players like Argentine striker Julio Furch, captain of the team; Mexican goalkeeper Carlos Acevedo, trained in the club’s quarry; or the Uruguayan midfielders Fernando Gorriarán and Brian Lozano.

Sorare is a platform dedicated to collectors and fans of football and cryptocurrency. In it, fans can collect non-fungible tokens created according to the ERC-721 standard of the Ethereum network representing the figures of world football.

On the platform, these tokens are used to participate in Fantasy Football tournaments or trade in a market with other participants. Depending on whether it is a common collector’s item or not, its value in said market can vary and users have the opportunity to earn money by participating in Sorare.

To start participating, each user receives 10 free collectibles upon opening their Sorare account. Those first player and team cards will allow the new user to start testing the platform and access competitions, the scores of which are based on the players’ performance in real life matches.

Sorare: over one hundred football teams with collectibles on Ethereum

Despite being the first in the Liga MX of Mexican football, Santos Laguna joins 102 other teams who have their own collectibles on the platform, born in December 2019.

A little less than a year after its creation, the company reports have more than 45,000 active users. According to a press release released last month, more than a million dollars were moved into the foreign exchange market for collectibles in October.

In total, the platform has a representation of more than 20 football leagues, including the Champions League, LaLiga Santander of Spain, the MLS of the United States or the English Premier League.

Among the biggest clubs that have their cards in Sorare’s Fantasy Footbal, we can count him Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus, Atlético de Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain de Neymar and Mbappé or the Bayer Monaco, current European champion whose landing on the platform reported by CriptoNoticias only a few weeks ago.
