Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry of Great Britain, revealed in an opinion piece published Wednesday in the New York Times that she lost a pregnancy, an extremely personal revelation made by a prominent member of the British royal family, Agerpres reports.

Prince Harry’s wife wrote about the experience in detail, saying it happened one morning in July while she was caring for Archie, the couple’s son.

“After changing his diaper, I felt a sharp pain. We fell to the ground with him in our arms, humming a lullaby to keep both of us calm, in a cheerful tone that contrasted sharply with the feeling that something was wrong.” Meghan wrote.

“I knew, while hugging my first child, that I was losing the second,” Meghan wrote.

Meghan Markle, who married Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex in 2018, also said that “the only way” for the royal couple to heal was to ask each other “Are you okay?”

He also urged others to ask the same question on Thanksgiving Day, which is celebrated Thursday in the United States, as “we are more connected than ever” to the trauma caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Meghan and Harry currently live in California with their one-year-old son Archie, after announcing in March that they will be leaving active roles in the British royal family.
