Tiger Woods will have the opportunity to claim a record sixth win at Augusta National, 15 years after delivering one of the most iconic shots in Masters history.

The former world number 1 secured his fourth green jacket and ninth major title during the 2005 competition, where his win over Chris DiMarco will always be remembered for an extraordinary moment in par 16.

Woods had taken a three-stroke lead in the final round, but saw his lead narrowed to a single shot when DiMarco scored consecutive birdies from 14th, with more drama coming to the next hole.

An over-hit tee shot put Woods long and rough at the bottom of the 16th green, leaving him about 50 feet from the pin and tackling a seemingly difficult up and down to stay 13 below.

Woods had other ideas as he picked the perfect spot on the green – about 20 feet to the left of the hole – and watched his shot advance down the slope towards the flag.

The ball seemed to land excruciatingly below the target as it nearly stopped on the lip, only to fall for a miraculous birdie-two and secure one of the most famous chip-ins in main history.

Another drama was following the two closing holes when Woods made a final bogey-bogey to fall back alongside DiMarco and force a play-off, only for Woods to secure victory with a bird on the first extra hole.
