He received the prize and the cash prize of 15,000 francs on Friday evening at a small party at Ebenrain Castle in Sissach. In online voting via the Basellandschaftliche Zeitung, Dolder relegated Athletics Club Therwil and TV Gelterkinden to second and third place respectively.
Dolder was recognized for his sporting achievements, which led him to the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. This made him the first participant in a Nordic individual sport in Basel. Other significant international successes include his 6th place in a World Cup race in Oestersund and 15th place at the 2017 Elite World Championships in Hochfilzen.

Government Councilor Monica Gschwind revealed the final result on Friday evening. Dolder took the win with a 36.8 percent share of the vote. Behind them were LC Therwil with 33.7 percent and Gelterkinden TV with 29.5 percent. Since last year, the runner-up and third-place finishers have received cash bonuses of 6,000 and 4,000 francs respectively, according to the release.
The ceremony held at Schloss Ebenrain honored not only the candidates for the sports award, but also the winners of the sponsorship and recognition award. Two of the three sponsorship awards went to the sport of ice hockey. The awards were awarded to Jürg Chrétien from Sissach and Willi Wenger from Lupsingen. Government Councilor Gschwind pointed out in his speech that these two award winners have been volunteering for decades and would fight for sports in Basel.
