17. November 2020 – Since the October update, Malwarebytes home and business customers can no longer use network printers under Windows.
Anyone who has installed security software for companies or home users from Malwarebytes will probably no longer be able to use network printers under Windows, as reported by “Bleeping Computer”. According to the report, an October 20, 2020 update ensures that security solutions block access to network-connected printers and Windows shows the devices as offline.
The problem can be solved by disabling Malwarebyte applications before printing or by permanently disabling web protection. Another solution is to disable the SNMP protocol for connecting to the printer. For its part, Malwarebytes has so far only released a beta of an update for the consumer version, which is expected to fix the bug. (abr)
