If the plans do not change from previous years, the Microsoft is expected to roll out two feature updates in the year 2021, for Windows 10, but the company won’t repeat this year’s major-minor cadence for updates.
The second was revealed by the WindowsLatest staff, this time the meaning of the next two Windows 10 updates will be reversed. The end result will be a small service pack-like update in the spring between April and May, followed by a more comprehensive feature update in the fall between October and November. It is unclear whether Microsoft will use the new “maintenance technology” to deliver the first update, but it is very likely that Windows 10 will not receive anything “exciting” until the second half of 2021.
If this proves true, it would mean that Microsoft will soon announce upcoming changes to the Windows 10 release cadence. Optional patches through January 2021.

It is also possible for Microsoft to add new minor features to Windows 10 via monthly cumulative updates until the end of 2021. Currently, the cumulative monthly updates cover all bug fixes and minor improvements, but Microsoft recently added the ‘Meet Now’ feature ‘ to Windows 10, in the November cumulative update. This trend may continue to advance, and some new features will arrive on Windows 10 through optional monthly patches until the fall, when the company releases the major update for Windows 10 (21H2).
While the Windows 10 21H1 update focuses on fundamentals and bug fixes, next year’s fall update will look at things like the Start Menu and Action Center. Microsoft will also improve File Explorer, but we still don’t know if that more modern Explorer will be released outside of the Windows 10X operating system.
The Windows 10 interface is something that should have taken on a new look some time ago and we will likely see improvements when the feature update is released in 2021.
