The expensive compact water-cooling systems of the Kraken X series, which NZXT relaunched in January 2020 with the seventh generation Asetek pumps, are now optionally available with brightly colored LEDs in the fans. In addition, the manufacturer has completed the AiOs of the Kraken Z line with an LCD display.
New fans on all three Kraken-X AiOs change performance
So far, NZXT has offered the current Kraken X53, X63, and X73 all-in-one water cooling system, which usually differ in radiator size, looking cautious with regular fans. The Kraken X53 RGB, X63 RGB and X73 RGB variants have now been added which, following the naming, distinguish themselves from previous Kraken X models by RGB lighting.
From now on, NZXT offers the most economical complete water cooling with the new fans of the “Aer RGB 2” type, in whose frame there are colored light diodes arranged in a ring, thus making possible a relatively simple and accentuated lighting.
As a result, the range of services is also changing. NZXT reduces start and maximum fan speeds from 800 to 500 rpm and from 2,000 to 1,500 rpm, which results in lower volume flow and airflow. But the noise level also drops in the lower speed range as well as in the maximum due to realignment.
Kraken Z53 as a laggard in the range
With the new Kraken-X-RGB full water cooling, NZXT completes the expensive and at the same time convincing Kraken-Z family. So far only available with 280mm and 360mm size radiators, the Kraken Z53 is now the smallest model with a 240mm long heat exchanger, which falls short of the Kraken Z63 (test) in the manufacturer’s portfolio. The LCD display on the Asetek pump unit, typical of the AiO series and which can display its own graphics and images via software, remains the concise yet price-oriented feature of the new addition.

The four new additions are already available in the manufacturer’s shop. While the potentially more powerful Kraken X73 RGB CPU cooler costs just under 220 euros to begin with, NZXT offers its younger siblings Kraken X63 RGB and Kraken X53 RGB for around 180 euros and 160 euros, respectively. The Kraken Z53 model is the most expensive of the new products. Despite the smaller 240mm radiator, buyers currently have to spend 230 euros.
For comparison: the original versions of the Kraken X line with all-black fans are currently available at retail for 125 euros (Kraken X53), 143 euros (Kraken X63) and 169 euros (Kraken X73).
