Laura Olascuaga, 25 and representative of the department of Bolívar, was elected Miss Universe Colombia this November 16, in a ceremony held in Barranquilla.

Social communicator and journalist, she is 1.80 meters tall and was born in Cartagena. In 2018 she was elected viceroy in the National Beauty Contest.

Her name sounded insistently in Miss Universe Colombia and was always a favorite.

The first finalist of the competition was Jenifer Pulgarín, a young woman with a hearing impairment. To answer the questions, Pulgarín was assisted by a sign language translator. She is 25 years old and is an environmental administration, model, dancer and entrepreneur born in Pereira. Represented Norte de Santander.

The second finalist was Laura Juliana Lamus, from Santander. He is 23 years old, 1.74 meters tall and is a fashion design and model student.

The evening began by choosing the 16 semi-finalists, a group that also entered Casanare, Atlántico, Huila, Cartagena, Cesar, Cabildo Encanto Amazonas, Caldas, Valle, Cauca, Antioquia, Nariño and Meta. Then he entered with the public vote.

Subsequently, the group was reduced to six finalists, which included Norte de Santander, Santander, Cauca, Quindío, Bolívar and Cabildo Encanto Amazonas.

The three finalists were Santander, Norte de Santander and Bolívar.

Miss Universe Colombia began this year, after Natalie Ackerman, former Miss Atlántico in the Cartagena National Beauty Contest and former representative of Germany at Miss Universe, acquired the franchise for the country and is therefore responsible for choosing and sending the representative .

Thus begins a new selection process for the woman who will bring the Colombian band to Miss Universe, although there is not yet a confirmed date of realization for the event.

Ackerman and a team of judges were in different Colombian cities for the preselection of candidates.
