CLINICAL TESTS ARE CARRIED OUT IN 3 PHASES
In order for a vaccine to be widely used, it must be tested on humans in 3 stages.
In the first phase of clinical trials, the safety of the vaccine and possible side effects in humans are studied in a small number of healthy volunteers. In the second phase, the vaccine’s effectiveness in evoking immune responses is tested on more than 100 subjects. In the third and final stage, the same process is repeated with thousands of subjects. The whole process can take months or even years.
