Informal contacts continue between SAD and the trio of players at the end of the contract formed by Otávio, Marega and Sérgio Oliveira, who at least signal the players’ intention not to close the door at FC Porto.
The basic problem, however, remains: the financial needs will have to fall to values adequate to the current uncertainty caused by the pandemic. And at this point the pandemic is in favor of goods that are free in the summer.
Speaking of gross wages alone, the renewal of that trio will incur an associated cost of 7.5 million. Otávio and Sérgio Oliveira – at least these two – intend to earn 1.5 million clean / year, which makes the negotiation difficult, without closing it completely.
In this field, FC Porto are suffering the consequences of a tax regime that penalizes national clubs. To give you an idea, the tax on player earnings in Turkey is only 15 percent, compared to over 50 percent (it could be as high as 53) in Portugal.
China, Germany, Spain, Italy and England, where many of the emblems interested in Otávio, Marega and Sérgio Oliveira live, all have more attractive tax regimes.
