Kylie Minogue performed a cover of Earth, Wind and Fire’s classic “September” record for BBC Radio 2 to coincide with the release of her latest album, “Disco”.

Unlike the high energy levels of the original track, Minogue replaces full instrumentation for a more intimate, piano-driven rendition.

Minogue released her 16th studio album earlier this month. Upon his release, NME gave the record a four-star review, writing “Kylie goes completely disco-diva on her most coherent and fun album in a decade”.

“The lyrics are generally as introspective as a pair of hotpants – gold, of course – but they definitely capture the dizzying thrill of leaving the dance floor.

“This album is successful because Kylie seems to be clubbing in her nice way: measured, affectionate and sincere, not an ironic pastiche exercise.”

The Australian singer also celebrated the release of “Disco” with a live streaming concert, Infinite Disco, earlier this month, where he performed songs from the record along with some classics.

Following its release, “Disco” rose to number one on the UK album chart, making Minogue the first female artist to climb the chart in five consecutive decades.

“Thank you to everyone who supported this album and campaign. It means the world to me and I’m so touched it found its way to your hearts,” she said in an Instagram post.
