The lead researcher at the Chumakov Institute, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Alexei Egorov said that the main difference between the vaccine developed against the new coronavirus from its analogues is its composition, reports RIA Novosti.

“The main difference between this vaccine is that it is not composed of individual coronavirus antigens, but of a whole inactivated virus. Therefore, it provides a complete set of all antigens of this virus, and this provides a complete set of all antibodies, ”said Yegorov.

The specialist noted that thanks to this the drug will be able to provide the body with the widest protection against coronavirus infection.

The new vaccine will be ready around February.

Recall that the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation registered the world’s first vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19 in August. It was developed at the Gamaleya Research Center for Electrochemistry. Over 50 countries around the world are interested in purchasing about one billion doses of this drug.

Earlier, Alexander Gintsburg, director of the Russian Ministry of Health’s National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after NF Gamaleya, said mass vaccination with Sputnik V could begin in January-February 2021.
