Ken Kurson, a board member of the payment company Ripple and co-founder of the cryptocurrency website Modern Consensus, was arrested on Friday and charged with cyberstalking in connection with his divorce, the New York Times reported.
Kurson, who is a close friend of President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, is accused of sending threatening messages to several people, the Times said.
There is also evidence that Kurson has engaged in installing software on someone’s computer to monitor keystrokes and in reporting false allegations to someone’s employer, the complaint read, according to the Times.
The allegations would come to light during a routine background check by Kurson for a seat on the board of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Kurson was editor in chief of the New York Observer when Kushner owned it.
A request for comment from Ripple was not immediately returned.
