Kelly Brook has long been open about how her fluctuating body weight impacted her mind.

Now, the 40-year-old star – who started modeling after winning a beauty pageant when she was 16 – has revealed how her mental health was worse when she was thinner.

Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous magazine, he said: “I have a size 10 around my waist but a size 12 around the bust and butt.

“This is my healthy and happy size. Some of the leanest moments of my life have been the most miserable.

“When I lost my father in 2007 I was 8 and a half years old. I don’t want to be in that place again. “

The host of the radio show Heart – who has been listed in the top 10 of FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women 10 times – added that she has become more confident with age.

She said, “You don’t care if your butt looks big – you just want to be comfortable and stylish.

“I want to look good, feel good and be the best version of myself, but I don’t want to look like a 20 year old, I want to look a good 40 year old.”

Earlier this year, Brook admitted in an interview that she didn’t feel “healthy or beautiful” at size 16, but said after ditching two dress sizes she feels “sexy” again.

Speaking to Hello!, She said: “I went up to size 16. When my jeans started to feel tight, I thought they had shrunk during the wash.

“I definitely didn’t feel healthier or more beautiful, and I wanted to feel good again.”

However, the model said her 32-year-old boyfriend Jeremy Parisi is pleased with her looks.

Brook said: “He loves me whatever my size. He didn’t even notice I had gained weight. He doesn’t care about things like that.

“He just likes me to sit down and enjoy eating with him. I’m not one of those girls who pushes a salad on the plate. “

One of the experiences that encouraged her to lose weight was when photographers told her to “breathe” while posing on the red carpet.

She recalled: “Well, I’m glad they told me! They actually thought they were doing me a favor, but yeah, it was a bit of a shock. “
