A film on the Ponzi scheme of the Onecoin cryptocurrency starring Oscar winner Kate Winslet is under construction. This Hollywood MGM movie is based on a true story told by a victim of the cryptocurrency fraud scheme.

Oscar winner Kate Winslet will star in an upcoming movie on the Onecoin cryptocurrency scheme, according to Hollywood news and entertainment publication Deadline.
The film is called “Fake!” and is based on the book by Jen McAdam and Douglas Thompson which tells the true story of McAdam’s involvement with the Onecoin Ponzi scheme. McAdam will be the executive producer of the film.
Scott Z. Burns, who wrote Contagion, a pandemic film that Winslet starred in, will write and direct the new film. He is also famous for his 2019 political drama called The Report, which is about Senate staff idealist Daniel J. Jones and his investigations into the CIA’s post 9/11 detention and interrogation program. He also wrote and produced the Netflix film The Laundromat in the Panama Papers. Burns will also co-produce Fake! with Jennifer Todd and Winslet for MGM Studios.
Winslet is a seven-time Oscar nominee who won Best Actress in 2009 for her role in The Reader. Its IMDB page shows 65 acting credits, including Titanic, Steve Jobs, the films Divergent, The Holiday, and Sense and Sensibility. He’s also teaming up with Titanic director James Cameron on Avatar 2.
Onecoin has been described as “one of the biggest scams in history”, having allegedly raked in $ 4 billion worldwide. The cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme is being promoted by Bulgaria-based offshore companies Onecoin Ltd. and Onelife Network Ltd., both founded by Ruja Ignatova in partnership with Sebastian Greenwood. Ignatova went missing in 2017 and is still a fugitive while Greenwood was arrested in 2018. Ruja’s brother Konstantin Ignatov pleaded guilty to money laundering and fraud after being arrested in March last year.
McAdam is a victim of Onecoin’s Ponzi scheme; he founded a support group for those affected by the scam. She, her family and friends have invested and lost nearly $ 300,000. McAdam tweeted Saturday after the news of her next film, thanking author and broadcaster Douglas Thompson for helping her write Fake! He described his book as “A memoir of my life and a hellish journey to justice in the Onecoin fraudulent scam which will now also be featured in a Hollywood MGM movie.
