Jose Mourinho took a playful jibe at Tottenham’s performance against Ludogorets.
The North Londoners met the Bulgarian champions in their third Europa League Group J match on Thursday evening.
The Spurs – who suffered an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Royal Antwerp in their previous European outing – won 3-1 against the Bulgarians.
‘The Special One’, however, was far from satisfied with his team’s performance in Razgrad and took to social media to playfully vent his frustrations.
Alongside an Instagram photo of himself eating a snack, Mourinho wrote: “When you win but don’t play particularly well @ pfcludogorets1945”.
Goals from Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Giovanni Lo Celso saw Spurs return to the top of Group J, which they overcame by goal difference.
Kane’s goal was his 200th with a Tottenham shirt and has now taken him to 66 goals behind Spurs’ all-time top scorer Jimmy Greaves.
“The numbers make him a club legend,” Mourinho said of Kane’s finish. “What he is achieving in the Premier League and in all competitions is fantastic for such a young boy.
“Tonight 45 minutes a goal and an assist. Can he become the top scorer? Yes, I believe it can. It is only a matter of time.”
Tottenham Hotspur: 59
Arsenal: 16
Manchester United: 7
Chelsea: 3
Manchester City: 1
Liverpool: 0
Although frustrated with his team’s performance as a whole, Mourinho took some positives from the first half of Thursday’s match.
“We start the game with a different ambition from that of Antwerp – said the Portuguese -. We tried to end the game in the first half.
“A good half, a good performance. In Antwerp we gave the opponent the advantage and we were unable to react. “
Tottenham will return to the pitch on Sunday afternoon, traveling to the Hawthorns to face West Bromich Albion.
