According to a report in Variety, Warner Bros. Pictures, the studio behind the Fantastic Beasts film series, has confirmed that the role of Gellert Grindelwald will be recast. The company claimed that Fantastic Beasts 3 is currently in production. The project was also postponed to the summer of 2022. The face has not yet been finalized. No specific date has yet been announced by the creators.
Previously, Johnny Depp tried the antagonist, Gellert Grindelwald in the first two films. The actor was originally set to reprise the character again Fantastic Beasts 3. But Warner Bros. asked him to step down from the series, just days after Depp lost his libel suit. The sun tabloid on a 2018 article claiming he was a “wife beater” for Amber Heard. He mentioned in a statement that he complies with the request and agreed to walk away from the series.

Colin Farrell is speculated to be the best choice to play Gellert Grindelwald Fantastic Beasts 3 and forward. In the first film he was seen as Percival Graves, a high-ranking Auror and Director of Magical Security for MACUSA, who is responsible for protecting wizards. Spoiler alert! In the climax, it was revealed that Graves is Grindelwald in disguise. Now that Johnny Depp is out of the franchise, Farrell may once again appear as a character. However, no confirmed news on the recast was provided.

The third untitled Fantastic Beasts film is directed by David Yates, who also directed the previous two parts – Fantastic beasts and where to find them (2016) and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018). The screenplay is co-written by JK Rowling and Steve Kloves, from a story by Rowling. It is the eleventh installment of the Wizarding World franchise overall, including all of the Harry Potter films.
Fantastic Beasts 3 the cast includes Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Jude Law, Callum Turner, Alison Sudol and Jessica Williams. The film is produced by David Heyman with Heyday Films, Lionel Wigram, Rowling and Kloves. The details of the plot have been hidden.
