It’s not up to us, but we could have a nice holiday

After encouraging Friday’s test results for coronavirus disease, Saturday brought no good news. They confirmed 1,106 infections with the new coronavirus and performed 3,644 tests, the government said on Twitter. The share of positive tests is 30.35%.

Nothing would fit: no loosening, no tightening

The results show that in Slovenia we have reached a ‘plateau’ with all measures, but the situation is not improving yet, the epidemiological data on Saturday STA commented the head of the covid19 advisory group at the ministry of health Bojana Beović. “On the one hand, this means that if we release the measures, we will have 40 percent of Slovenian hospital beds occupied by covid patients in 14 days, not to mention the death toll that means. And if we introduce more serious measures, the question is what their compliance will be, because even now we get the impression that people have difficulty understanding and complying with the measures. This is very evident in the results we have. “

Otherwise, the results of a day, such as Friday, which also indicated a possible improvement with a smaller share of positive tests, mean nothing. “Trends must be considered and the epidemic seen from different angles. Not only the number of infected and the proportion, but also the number of those who need hospitals. There are a few more, but this information is not surprising, because there are fewer layoffs over the weekend, “says Beović.

What is important to us?

According to Beović, we in the company must agree on what is important to us. “It’s kind of a social decision that the medical profession doesn’t have much to do with.” He recalled the known mechanisms of transmission of infections and why covid 19 is a dangerous disease. He believes that people could go to great lengths to make “as many Christmas and New Year holidays as possible” and that it is up to each individual to influence the absence of infections.

So far, 75,379 new coronavirus infections have been confirmed in Slovenia, for a total of 1,384 deaths from covid.
