Apple has just launched a line of 4 new iPhone 12s and apparently they have been well received models by the market. The company will be able to renew its commitment and launch the same number of models as the iPhone 13. By labeling the screen size presented this year, the novelties could start from the materials of the battery, taking into account a better management of the occupied space. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the candidates to receive these changes will initially be the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 mini.

The new battery technology will take up less space and cost less
The Cupertino company is already working on the news for the next iPhone. TF International Securities analyst speaks of use of soft board battery technology (flexible / soft card) for use on iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini.
The main objective is to reduce internal spaces and costs at the same time. Apple may want to reduce the starting price of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, but at this point it is not confirmed whether the new models will have batteries with greater capacity or less.
With the iPhone 12, Apple chose to use smaller batteries than the iPhone 11. This choice probably made it difficult to compromise on using a 5G modem and a 120Hz refresh rate display.
The combination of the two would have a negative effect on battery performance, although Apple has developed a 5nm SoC, with better power management. In this sense, Apple, with a choice to make, preferred to prioritize 5G. The choice was based on the management that it will be possible using 5G communications while keeping the battery efficient.
Apple will use LCP Soft Board technology
According to the analyst, the technology used is called LCP Soft Board, a reference to the Liquid Crystal Polymer on which it is based. It is expected that same technology to use in the upcoming iPad Pro mini-LED screen, as Kuo pointed out earlier. As mentioned, high-speed, low-latency data transfer can be provided with LCP Soft Board.
The manufacturer Career Technology, a Taiwanese company, has been added to Apple's list of suppliers and will receive between 40% and 50% of softboard battery orders. As mentioned, this manufacturer will also be supplier of this technology to equip the upcoming iPad Pro and AirPods 3.
It is not the first time that Apple has used this LCP technology. In 2017, when the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus were launched, the company used the technology for some LTE antennas. Now, it appears that by 2021 Apple wants to adopt the “flexible plate” technology on a larger scale. Therefore, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini, with the new cards, may also have larger batteries than previous versions.
