iPhone 12 Mini: Apple’s smallest smartphone receives a positive note of repairability |

On November 13th, Apple offered the remaining two smartphones of the iPhone 12 family: the Mini model and the Pro Max. to test the most “affordable” model of the new line of Apple smartphones.

Although it is only 5.4 inches, the iPhone 12 Mini is a smartphone with great ambitions. However, iFixit technicians said they were surprised that the internal composition of the smartphone is very similar to that of other iPhones launched this year.

The company, which analyzed North American and European versions of the iPhone 12 Mini, noted that Apple included small versions of the speakers, the tactical engine, and even the MagSafe system on the smartphone. The camera configuration, on the other hand, is the same size as that found in the rest of the equipment in the new line.

When it comes to smartphone repair, experts point out that the most important components are modular, making it easy to replace if needed. But, like the base and Pro versions of the iPhone 12, replacing the back cover can prove to be a real problem for DIY repair enthusiasts.

In all, the iPhone 12 Mini achieves a score of 6 out of 10 on the iFixit repairability scale. According to experts, Apple would have bet more on using screws to secure internal components, although the use of glue has not been completely forgotten. In addition to the use of three different types of screws, the company also reports that the measures taken by Apple to make the smartphone resistant to water and dust end up hindering the repair process.
