IO Interactive has unveiled a new video for Hitman III, titled “Under the Hood”, which features new details on Agent 47’s final mission. The developer also took the opportunity to reveal the city of Chongqing, China, as one of the location of the new title. And what is shown of the Chinese megalopolis is impressive!
The attention to detail comes thanks to the Glacier engine, which comes from the studio itself, and should be even more impressive in new consoles and more powerful PCs.
Developer Clemens Koch tells the video, highlighting the new lighting, reflections and water effects that help increase immersion. Animations have also been tweaked to ensure gameplay is smoother than ever. Players may also notice that the movements seem much more responsive in this game.
IO Interactive has also worked to augment Glacier’s AI capabilities. As a result, more than 300 NPCs can appear on the screen simultaneously, ensuring that Hitman III will immerse players in a more animated world than previous editions of the franchise.
Gamers on PS5, Xbox Series X and newer PCs will still have access to other enhancements, such as 4K / 60 FPS and HDR resolution.
IO Interactive plans to launch Hitman III for PS4, PS5, Google Stadia, PC via the Epic Games Store, Xbox One and Xbox Series X on January 20, 2021.
