Facebook has long announced this news for its messaging apps and it has finally become a reality. From now both Instagram and Facebook Messenger have a mode where messages are ephemeral. Today the company launched a number of new features for both Facebook Messenger and Instagram. In fact, we’ve seen one of the biggest splash screen changes over the years on the latter. Instagram now has screens dedicated to Reels (his TikTok alternative) and Shop (his shop). Further, Here comes the “Vanish mode”. WhatsApp has also implemented them in its own way.
Vanish mode has arrived in Messenger! Swipe up on a chat thread to enter. Swipe up to disable. Some things aren’t meant to last. #Vanishmode https://t.co/kq6icgAiW2 pic.twitter.com/xAFdgRB3g6

Messages that disappear once viewed
The new “Vanish mode” is essentially a mode where conversations are fleeting. When you enter this mode in a conversation, everything we send (text messages, photos, videos, stickers …) reaches the other user but once displayed it will be automatically deleted. This obviously doesn’t mean it’s 100% private and secure, after all, the recipient can take a screenshot every time they want to store information.
The new way will appear in both apps as an option that can be turned on and off in any conversation setting with a person or group. This mode can also be activated by swiping up in a chat window. The option to turn it off is at the top of the conversation window or by scrolling down again. In fact, the other person must also accept the way to start it.
With this feature Facebook replicates one of Snapchat’s coolest features and that most captivates its users. Ephemeral messages make conversations a little more private. It is similar to the effect obtained by stories giving the feeling that it is not a content that stays forever and can be used by someone later.
According to Facebook the new ‘Vanish Mode’ Log into Facebook Messenger today in some countries. As soon as to Instagram, it will come at a later time which has not yet been determined. Anyway, some users have been appearing for a few weeks already, Facebook is doing tests so maybe you have it or maybe it will come at any time.
