Rafael dos Anjos and Paul Felder are this weekend’s UFC card holders. Originally the main event was set to feature the RDA addressing Makhachev Islam. Unfortunate health problems, however, led Makhachev to retire a week before the fight.

With 5 days notice, Paul Felder stepped in to save the light main event. Apparently retired veteran fighter Felder appears to have jumped at the opportunity to be a companion again. With both fighters doing the weigh-in, the main event is ready to begin.

Rafael Dos Anjos returns to lightness

Dos Anjos is a former lightweight champion and will return to 155 after a brief transition to welterweight. While RDA is coming out of 2 straight losses, UFC president Dana White still holds him in high regard.

“Well, you know what I think of him (Dos Anjos),” Dana told the media. “I think he is an absolute stallion. Each of his fights is exciting and it will be interesting that he looks good. “

With a return to the 155 level, it will be interesting to see how well the former champion looks back at his weight class.

Paul Felder was training for a triathlon

Dana White went on to give both fighters credit for dealing with the delayed change as professionals. Felder stepped in with just five days’ notice to earn 155.5 pounds.

“I mean those guys, they both look really good, both in incredible shape. This guy (Felder) did not arrive, he has always fought. He knows how to fight and he’s in phenomenal shape because he’s been training for a triathlon so it’s a good fight. “

The Irish Dragon last fought in February 2020. They lost a split decision lost to lightweight contender Dan Hooker. At 35 now, Felder will be looking to come out with a win. Dos Anjos enters the fight with a record of 29-13 while Felder reaches 17-5.

Felder recently claimed that every fight he has led to someone ends up in the hospital, be it him or his opponent. A bout with Dos Anjos will be a contender for Fight of the Night.
