How to unlock the good and bad versions

[ad_1]

Bugsnax seems like a nice guy and harmless game on the surface, but towards the end of the adventure, the story becomes much darker. Things get even darker depending on which of the files Bugsnax endings you unlock, and doubly so in the cryptic post-credit scene. Here’s what it all means.

Obviously, spoilers for Bugsnax Follow.

How did we get here – The world of Bugsnax is inhabited by muppet-like creatures called Grumpus, but explorer Lizbert Megafig discovers an island of strange creatures called Bugsnax that are edible and change parts of a Grouch’s body when eaten. Players take on the role of a reporter who proposes an investigation into this to their editor.

Players continue the story of Snaktooth Island even without their publisher’s approval, but they must rebuild Snaxberg after they arrive and find the Grumpus who live there in shambles after Lizbert’s disappearance. During Bugsnax, the players convince all of the island’s Grumpus to return to Snaxberg and find Eggabert in the mountains.

After a party is interrupted by an earthquake, players finally open a mysterious door with Eggabell, but they fall into a Bugsnax pit. From here, players find Lizbert Megafig and discover the true nature of the Bugsnax.

What are the Bugsnax? When players find Lizbert, she is no longer a Grumpy, having been transformed into a Grumpus-Bugsnax-like creature. He tells the players that Bugsnax are actually parasites that take control of people’s bodies and kill them if they eat too many of them.

Snaktooth Island itself is made up of Bugsnax. He then urges the players to leave as the island is destroyed. Eggabell decides to stay behind with Lizbert, but the player and Philbo escape, now knowing the truth about Bugsnax.

On the run from Snaktooth Island – The player and Filbo return to Snaxberg and attempt to escape with all the other Grumblers. But the Bugsnax are getting violent and attacking the Grumpus, so many of the player traps are converted into weapons and they have to fight the waves of Bugsnax while the Grumpus escape.

If a Grouch eats too many Bugsnaxes, however, they will turn into one and die. Depending on whether the Grouches live or die, your ending will be slightly different.

Good and bad ending – BugsnaxThe ending differs slightly depending on whether some of the Grumpuses players are defending or not. If the players manage to save all of the Grouches on the island, they will get a “good” ending. Lizbert and Eggabell manage to keep the Bugsnax at bay while they survived the escape.

When they reach the mainland, everyone stands on a beach and players can talk to them about what they have learned over the course of the adventure. In both endings, players submit their story to their editor. While she believes it, the player ends up being fired for leaving the meeting early in the game and Filbo decides to run for mayor

In the nice ending, everyone is relatively positive and learns something from the experience when you talk to them on the beach. The images in the credits show everyone living happily ever after, confirming that Philbo actually becomes a mayor and that Lizbert and Eggabell survived. You’ll also get a post-credits scene that reframes the game.

If one of the Grumpus dies, though, you’ll get the negative version of the ending. While a lot of the scenes are the same, the Grumpus on the beach will be more negative and you won’t get as many images in the credits. Also, you won’t get the post-credits scene.

Post credits scenes – The Clumby player editor is heard discussing Bugsnax with a mysterious voice. In Latin they say to each other “You are what you eat” is “every living thing of Bugnsax, “which roughly translates to” you are what you eat, “a verse from the song” It’s Bugsnax “and” all life at Bugsnax. “That song also contained the lyrics” Come to Snaktooth Island and find out, it’s Bugsnax! “which, taken literally, reveals one of the game’s main twists.

Because you literally discover that the island itself is Bugsnax.

This post-credits scene also shows that your publisher actually knew what the Bugsnax were and is trying to keep them secret. It may be part of the Grumpinati, an Illuminati play referenced throughout the game. At the end of the game, a Strabby gets off the ship used by the players to escape, suggesting that Bugsnax will spread outside Bugsnax Island.

The story definitely takes a darker turn towards the end, and the best ending could create a DLC or sequel. Bugsnax it’s definitely a game worth seeing to the end if you like its writing and story.

Bugsnax is now available for PC, PS4 and PS5.
