The new tool allows that if a user does not open a WhatsApp chat for seven days, the message will disappear. However, the text preview may still appear in notifications until the opening of WhatsApp, the Facebook-owned platform explained on its official blog.
How to activate new temporary messages on Android and iPhone?
The application explained that to send the messages that disappear in WhatsApp it is necessary to activate the function. Once activated, new messages sent in chat will disappear after seven days.
“The most recent selection will affect all messages in the chat. Messages sent or received before the activation of temporary messages will not be affected,” explained WhatsApp.
To activate them, you need to follow the following procedure:
- Open the WhatsApp chat.
- Tap the contact’s name.
- To touch Temporary messages.
- If prompted, tap Keep it going.
- To choose Activated.
How to activate new temporary messages in groups?
If you are the person who manages the group, you can turn on temporary messages in the group chat. Once activated, chat messages will disappear after seven days.
