The prices of premium phones have long since crossed the $ 1000 barrier, but they continue to sell very well, even in this pandemic period.
On October 13, Apple first launched the new iPhone series, a series consisting of 4 models: iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Picodi.com, an international smart shopping platform, conducted an analysis presenting the real prices of the iPhone 12 Pro in relation to a regular salary in different countries around the world.
Basically, they took the 128GB iPhone 12 Pro + the average gross salary in each country and calculated how many working days it takes for the citizen of that country to buy this iPhone model with low money.
Almost two months (working days) for Romania
The official price of the iPhone 12 Pro in the 128 GB version will be 5899 lei in Romania. But we won’t find a charger or headphones in the box of this year’s iPhone.
Conform the latest INS data, the average salary in the economy in Romania is 5337 lei gross (3275 net). This means that a normal Romanian would have to work 37.8 days to be able to buy an iPhone 12 Pro, without eating anything and without giving money for anything else (bills, purchases, medicines or other sundries).
Compared to last year’s iPhone index, Romania’s result worsened by 1.4 days.
In four months (working days) for Ukraine
The high salaries in Switzerland allow you to buy a new iPhone in 4.4 working days. The average salary in the US allows you to buy this gadget in 6.1 business days, and an Australian or regular resident of Luxembourg can get the new iPhone 12 Pro in 6.6 business days.
The weakest results among the countries where Apple revealed the price of the iPhone 12 Pro are found in the Philippines and Ukraine: in these countries, an average resident must save 88.2 and 87.0 days respectively to afford the new iPhone. .
In Italy and Austria, the new gadget is worth 18.3 and 10.8 working days respectively and in Bulgaria it is 47.3 days.
Methodology and source of information
The 2020 iPhone Index was calculated based on the official prices of the iPhone 12 Pro (with 128GB of memory) publicly announced by Apple or authorized local suppliers.
The average wages in the economy come from the official pages of the national statistical institutions and relevant ministries and are current on the day of the publication of the iPhone prices in that country.
The average monthly salary was divided into 21 days – the average number of working days in a month. In countries where statistical institutes use weekly rates, the salary has been divided by 5 days, we find it on the Picodi.com website.
