With a lot of hype, Honor announced the latest smartphone probably for this year in a live stream: that Honor 10X Lite. In the nearly 20-minute video, various Honor employees mainly speak new partners. These include, for example, Red Bull Basement (a Red Bull Ideathon), the “Wattpad” writer’s network and a new payment solution developed together with a bank in Russia.
While the Honor 10X Lite appears only as a fringe phenomenon in the video (from 44:44), we want to take a look at what the new device has under the hood in this article.
Design and visualization
With the smartphone display, Honor follows the current trend. It is based on a central location Punch-Hole for the selfie camera and a “full screen design” with a 91% screen-to-body ratio. The IPS The panel measures proud 6.67 in and can therefore be clearly defined as a phablet. The resolution is attached FHD +, which is 2400 x 1080 pixels and the 10X Lite achieves a pixel density of 394ppi.
Despite the large display, the case is with 165.7 x 76.9 x 9.3mm still relatively compact, the weight of 206 grams but it is quite high. The design doesn’t offer much innovation, but optically it’s quite eye-catching. Honor offers the 10X Lite in three colors: Midnight Black, Emerald Green and Islandic Frost (Silver / purple). It is not yet clear what materials are used for the housing. Honor recently installed a glossy plastic back in the 9A, which obviously gets scratched quickly. But as the price of the new device is significantly higher, we can hope for a glass back cover again.
The camera module is prominently positioned in the upper left corner and appears to protrude slightly from the case. The Honor logo is also printed in the center, otherwise the back is clean. A speaker was found at the bottom of the smartphone and, fortunately, a USB-C port and AUX connection. On the right you can find the volume buttons and a power button with integrated on Honor 10X Lite Fingerabdruckscanner. There is room for the SIM slide on the left and a microphone can be seen at the top.
Honor has streamlined a case from the scope of supply, so only the charging adapter, some documents and the SIM tool are in the box.
Performance and system
A is used in the brand new Honor smartphone Huawei Kirin 710A Processor. This chip is the result of the US ban: it was no longer made by TSMC, but produced by SMIC and therefore 100% from China. While the Kirin 710 was already manufactured by TSMC in the 12nm process, the slightly weaker one comes from SMIC 14 nm process for use. This leads to one Loss of performance and probably one too poor battery efficiency compared to Taiwan’s “predecessor”. The only other smartphones with this chip so far – Honor 9C and Huawei P Smart 2021 – only score 130,000 points in the Antutu benchmark, which roughly corresponds to an Umidigi Power 3. The chip is certainly sufficient for everyday tasks, but many competing products in the price range of the Honor 10X Lite they reach double the performance. Memory is also included 4GB + 128GB not overly large – it’s just Honor’s weak.
Unfortunately, the criticisms don’t stop there. As word got out, Huawei / Honor has been around for over a year without Google services getting along. This also applies to the 10X Lite, which consequently arrives on the market without the Play Store. Huge sums of money are pumped into its app gallery, but Huawei still can’t keep up with Google in terms of software.

Honor 10X Lite Camera
With the huge quad setup on the back, Honor’s new device definitely gives the impression of a great camera. At least the main sensor can confirm this impression too. Solves with 48 Megapixels lit, but we don’t know yet which sensor it is. There is also a 8MP wide angle lens, which also gives hope for good photos. The configuration is completed by two 2 MP sensors, of which one for Macro shots should be responsible and the other for shallow depth of field. The test report will show how this setup works in practice, but in general 2MP sensors rarely offer added value. The selfie camera in the punch hole has a resolution of 8MP and therefore is not very spectacular.
Connectivity and battery
At least in this area, the Honor 10X Lite can convince across the board. It goes without saying that it comes with all the 4G bands required in Germany. Finally it is also USB-C came in Honors cheaper devices and even one Jack plug has still found space. The only negative point is the WiFi standard: Honor does without a, ac and ax here.
The battery is proud 5000 mAh (Nominal value 4900mAh) very generous, according to Honor it is only enough “for the whole day”. Is Honor very pessimistic here or does the chip turn out to be a power hog? We will also clarify this in the test report. After all, Honor has one too Quick charge function installed. Evaluation and price
As an introduction, the Honor 10X Lite is only available in black or green for € 229.90 It can be pre-ordered in the Honor Store. Free there are the Honor Sport Pro headphones, an Honor Band 5 or the Honor Mini Speaker. The dispatch will therefore take place from 22 November. Experience has shown that Honor often offers bundles, but the price will likely remain at € 229 even without an add-on after sales start.
Given the performance, this is it not really justified. Such devices SMALL X3 or that Redmi Note 9 Pro they offer a significantly faster processor, better camera, and longer battery life for a similar (sometimes even cheaper) price. Another complication is the lack of Google services with Honor. All in all, we can only recommend the Honor 10X Lite to hardcore Huawei fans and Google objectors. With the Honor 9X Pro there is even from our own ranks a smartphone that came with same price which clearly better hardware supplies.
