The ideal way to recover from aphonia is to rest your vocal cords.

Sore throat is usually related to irritation or inflammation of the vocal cords, symptoms which in turn can be the expression of various diseases such as colds, aphonia or pharyngitis.
Here are some home remedies that can help relieve a sore throat:
1.- Gargle, a classic that is not lacking
Gargling several times a day with warm salt water allows the latter to absorb water from the mucosal cells, which become inflamed during constipation.
Half a tablespoon of salt in a glass of water is enough. Half a minute is more than enough.
If you gargle more than three times a day, the mucous membranes can end up drying out, exactly the opposite of what we want.
2.- Choose the soup first
And if it’s chicken, the better. While any hot broth will do you good, experts mostly recommend chicken, vegetables, or beef.
The soups that don’t suit you are those with tomato, which are excessively acidic, or those that contain dairy products, which increase the production of mucus.
3.- Taste a spoonful of honey
Take it as if it were candy. Let it sit at the back of your mouth. Honey is an effective antiseptic, meaning it helps fight infectious diseases by destroying the microbes that cause them.
Remember that babies under the age of one year cannot take honey, as it may contain the bacterium Clostridium botulinum which causes botulism in babies.
4.- Place on a warm cloth
In addition to being extremely pleasant, a warm washcloth can improve circulation in the throat and help deflate.
Dampen a washcloth with warm water, drain it, and place it on your throat for it to take effect.
The heat will cause the blood vessels to dilate and help the muscles to relax, reducing pain.
5.- Try to speak a little less
Ideally, recovering from aphonia as soon as possible is to rest the vocal cords for at least two to three days. Also, if you try to clear your throat less and breathe through your nose rather than your mouth, recovery will be faster.
Avoid going to noisy bars or places that force you to raise your voice to communicate.
6.- Use sage in infusion or spray
A study published in the European Journal of Medical Research has shown that this plant, like echinacea, contains substances that can soothe a sore throat.
Make an infusion, let it cool and rinse your throat. You should not resort to it if you are pregnant (it can be toxic to the fetus).
You can also buy sage and echinacea mouth sprays. The former will act in a short time and with the latter you will get longer term protection.
7.- Suck on peppermint candies
It doesn’t matter if they are mint, eucalyptus, orange or lemon, the reason why taking candy relieves throat irritation is that the saliva produced by sucking it softens the throat.
If you are diabetic, choose sugar-free.
