The story dates back to 1991, when allegedly “El Pelusa”, who died on November 25, 2020, received an invitation from the head of the Medellín cartel and ended up “in a prison surrounded by thousands of soldiers” (apparently referring to the Cathedral).
At least that was the version that AS recorded in January 2019, based on a statement that, he said, Diego Maradona released on an Argentine station, whose name he did not specify.
According to the media quote, it was Guillermo Coppola who sent the invitation to the so-called ‘Cosmic Kite’, who allegedly assured him that they would have paid him “a huge sum to play a friendly match, with some players like René Higuita [que hace un tiempo habló de su cercanía con el narco]”.

That sports portal also provided details on what, they say, Maradona (for whom Fabián Vargas cried on TV, after learning of his death) described that game that he, presumably, really enjoyed, and a party that he allegedly took place the night.

Out of everything they published, what caught the most attention was a sentence in which “El Pelusa” denied having had any closeness to the drug trafficker Colombian, who had a great fortune and left a will.
“I have not met Pablo Escobar, I swear to you on my old lady who is in heaven. What he was doing was horrible ”, was the sentence of Maradona published by Olé.

Media from his native Argentina say the soccer star died of respiratory arrest, but not in the clinic where he was hospitalized for a brain clot a few days ago, but at home.
